Nicki practices in Health Law and Crime with particular interest in Medical Negligence, Professional Disciplinary matters and public health (eg. Food Act). Prior to being called to the Bar Nicki has lectured in the Faculties of Law, and Medicine, and Health Sciences at Monash University; practiced as a solicitor in a litigation-based health law practice at Corrs; and acted as a supervisor at Monash-Oakleigh Legal Service (MOLS).
Nicki has researched and taught in criminal law, evidence law, civil procedure, health law and torts at undergraduate and post graduate level for 14 years. Nicki has a Masters degree in Bioethics from the Centre for Human Bioethics, and published a first class Honours Law thesis on the regulation of IVF in Victoria.
As a solicitor at Corrs Nicki advised and acted for patients, health care networks, medical practitioners, nurses and allied health care professionals, medical defence funds, private health insurers in matters in the Supreme Court, the Magistrates’ Court, VCAT and before the Medical Board of Victoria.
At MOLS Nicki provided practical, resolution based advice on planning applications, residential tenancy and neighbourhood disputes, privacy issues, mental health issues, sale of goods complaints and traffic matters.
Nicki is also a Nationally Accredited Mediator and is available to mediate across all areas of civil and family law.
Nicki has been appointed to the Board of The Victorian Assisted Reproductive Treatment Authority (VARTA) which is a statutory authority funded by the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services.
