Ariadne’s practice focusses on criminal, quasi-criminal and administrative law.  In addition to delivering high quality written and oral advocacy, Ariadne’s other priority is to be accessible to and communicative with instructors and clients.

Practice prior to joining the Victorian Bar

  • 2007 – 2009 Associate to the Honourable Justice Coghlan of the Victorian Supreme Court

Criminal Law

  • Reviewing, advising and appearing in matters focussing on the application of a variety of statutes including:
    - Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004
    Crimes (Mental Impairment and Unfitness to be Tried) Act 1997
    Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Act 1981
    Serious Sex Offenders (Detention and Supervision) Act 2009
  • Court of Appeal – preparing written cases for the DPP; appearing as junior counsel to Mark Dean SC (as His Honour then was)
  • County Court - bail applications, pleas, trials (appearing alone and as junior counsel to Ian Hill QC and Daniel Gurvich QC) and appeals
  • Magistrates’ Court - bail applications, pleas, contests, committals
  • Appearing in the Children’s Court and Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal

Administrative Law

  • Appearing in the Review and Regulation List at VCAT (pursuant to the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004)    
  • Providing advice in relation to the Legal Practice Act 2004

Intervention Orders

Drafting particulars and appearing in contested applications in the Magistrates’ Court and appeals in the County Court
