David accepts briefs in a broad range of commercial, criminal and common law matters.
David practiced for five years in the insurance litigation section at Hall & Wilcox. He regularly represented clients in indemnity disputes and developed particular expertise in defending litigated fraudulent claims made against insurer clients. David’s practice also included subrogated defences in personal injury, property damage and construction matters.
Prior to practicing as a solicitor, David received a scholarship from Monash University to intern at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY). During his time in the Office of the President, David worked on three appeals (Haradinaj et al, Boskoski & Tarculovski and Hartmann) as well as a number of early release and provisional release decisions.
David also interned at the United Nations Assistance to the Khmer Rouge Trials (UNAKRT) in the Office of the Co-Prosecutor. David assisted the OCP staff preparing for an expedited commencement in Case 002, which included drafting sections of the National Co-Prosecutor’s opening statement in that case.
David was a member of Hall & Wilcox’s pro bono committee. He was a volunteer lawyer and migration agent at Refugee Legal. He also acted on a pro bono basis in a number of High Court matters associated with the M68 and M80 refugee cases run by the Human Rights Law Centre.
David is currently completing a Master of Laws at Melbourne University.
David was featured in Australasian Lawyer’s 50 Rising Stars in 2014 and 2016. He was also a finalist in Lawyer’s Weekly’s 30 under 30 in 2016.
