Since coming to the bar, Kathryn has appeared in a variety of courts and tribunals, including the Supreme, County and Magistrates’ Courts and VCAT, in matters including:Â
- Banking litigation - mortgagee and other secured recovery proceedings, and tribunal proceedings regarding the applicability of consumer credit legislation
- Professional negligence claims, both for plaintiffs and defendants
- A range of wills and probate matters, including the making and revocation of grants of administration, and testator family maintenance proceedings
- Property matters, including caveat removals and summary possession proceedings
- VCAT merits reviews and appeals from VCAT
- VOCAT applications, both as counsel assisting and on behalf of applicants for assistance
Between 2007 and 2009, Kathryn was associate to the Honourable Justice Hollingworth of the Supreme Court of Victoria. During this time, her Honour sat in both the Commercial List and the criminal division of the Court.
Kathryn worked as a commercial litigation solicitor for three and a half years, including at Russell Kennedy and Dibbs Abbott Stillman (now Thomson Geer). As a solicitor, she undertook a wide range of matters, principally in the Supreme Court, including defending claims of professional negligence brought against solicitors; bankruptcy and insolvency matters; testator family maintenance claims; and banking and finance litigation.
