Before being called to the bar, Lindsay was a Senior Associate at Corrs Chambers Westgarth. As a solicitor, he acted on a range of commercial disputes, with a primary focus on construction claims. In terms of scale, he acted on large-scale “mega litigation” and arbitral proceedings, through to smaller construction and general commercial disputes.
Lindsay’s primary focus at Corrs was construction disputes, and he advised some of Australia’s largest and well-known construction and energy and mining companies. He also advised on a wide variety of construction disputes, including complex contractual claims and claims made under the Security of Payment legislation. In addition, he often advised on highly technical issues relating to international and domestic arbitral proceedings.
Lindsay’s broader commercial practice extended to advising clients on general commercial disputes in the aviation and transport, mining and energy, and media and technology industries. To that end, he is well versed in contractual, trade practices, negligence and equitable claims.
Lindsay has continued his focus on construction and commercial disputes at the bar. He has appeared in relation to construction and commercial matters in the Supreme Court, County Court, Magistrates’ Court and Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), and has represented clients in mediations and other conciliation processes in relation to such matters.
Lindsay has a particular interest and skill-set in construction law and arbitration. He has a Master of Construction Law degree from the University of Melbourne, and has published regularly on construction and arbitration issues. He is the co-author of a chapter on regional issues in the Global Arbitration Review’s Guide to Construction Arbitration (co-authored with Andrew Stephenson, one of Australia’s pre-eminent construction law litigators).
