Rod has over twenty five years commercial litigation experience and practises as a mediator. He mediates across a wide-range of disputes including contract, property, corporations, insolvency, intellectual property, competition and consumer law, and equity.
From 2002 to 2010 Rod worked as a solicitor with Phillips Ormonde Fitzpatrick Lawyers, where he became a partner. He acted for national and international clients in Federal and Supreme Court litigation and appeals. He also helped develop the firm’s anti-counterfeit and Customs seizure practice.
Rod’s experience as counsel includes:
- Junior counsel to Mandie QC acting for the successful Appellant (Plaintiff) in the High Court appeal of Krakowski v Eurolynx (1993) 183 CLR 563 (property-misrepresentation);
- Junior counsel to Olle, J acting for the Department of Justice in the Port Philip Prison Coronial Inquiries into Deaths in Custody;
- Acting for a major participant in the Metropolitan Ambulance Service (Integraph) Royal Commission into the tendering of Victoria’s emergency call service;
- Junior counsel to various other silks including: Nettle QC, Uren QC, Gillard (W) QC, Richter QC, Dunn QC, Hargrave QC and Jolson QC.
Rod has previously taught property and real estate law at R.M.I.T. as part of the Estate Agents’ qualification course.
