Sam practices in the following areas:


Building and Planning


Representing owners, builders, building surveyors and consultants in building disputes and building regulation, including disputes arising out of protection works, building orders and notices, emergency orders and modification applications.


Acting for agencies, Councils and objectors in planning appeal matters and enforcement.


Regulatory crime


Representing both the prosecution and defence in planning and building in particular. The agencies include Councils, the VBA, EVP, EPA, amongst others.


Local government


Advising local government in respect to drafting and other Council work.


Sports Tribunals


Appointed by the Australian Football League to act as counsel assisting in both the AFL, AFLW, and AFL (Victoria).


Representing and advising players, clubs and coaches in other codes and sport.


Boards and Tribunals


Advising and appearing in matters at the Building Appeals Board, Building Practitioners Board, and the Architects Registration Board amongst others.


Royal Commissions and Inquests


Appeared on behalf of several parties in the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, sitting in Sydney and Ballarat.


Appeared on behalf of the family in the Coronial Inquest into the death of Darren Culleton.


Disciplinary hearings


Appearing and advising builders, architects, engineers, building surveyors, school teachers, amongst other professionals.
