Felicity Gerry QC has led three submissions to the Inquiry into Victoria’s Criminal Justice System by the Legal and Social Issues Committee in the Parliament of Victoria. In each submission she led a team of experts. Each submission deals with different but interlinked topics:
- Submission number 75: Introducing a Modern Slavery Defence: A Victim-Centred Approach.
- Submission number 86: A Health, Law and Education Approach to Criminal Justice.
- Submission number 145: Bail for the benefit of Society: A ‘Least Restrictive Means’ Approach.
In all three submissions, Felicity and her teams drew on international law, guidance and research to provide a foundation for better approaches to issues in criminal justice including modern slavery, child rights, vulnerability in justice systems and reform of laws, including bail laws.
