The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the need to amend the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008 to protect the community. During a pandemic, forced testing may be justified in certain circumstances, provided there are appropriate safeguards. Amending the law would require consultation with key stakeholders and analysing the approaches of comparable jurisdictions within Australia and internationally.
