Pre-mediation conference with the Mediator
Mediators in Victoria usually do not provide a pre-mediation conference. Although it’s worth asking the mediator whether they offer this as part of their “mediation package”. It provides a good opportunity for the client to meet with the mediator, understand the issues, become familiar with the mediation process and sign the mediation agreement. It develops rapport and trust. It also enables the mediator to give the client homework so that they are better prepared for mediation, and hopefully for a better outcome.
