Practice of the law divided about equally between practice at the Bar and practice as a partner of Blake Dawson Waldron (now Ashurst) (1986 to 2002) while serving thirty years presiding over statutory tribunals.
Practised in commercial, media, and government law, but now specialises in mediation, conducting hearings, and advice for corporates and on defamation
Completed the Basic (1997) and Advanced (2001) Course of Mediation at Bond University; has been admitted as a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators; has completed a PIL in International Arbitration at Harvard (1998). Conducted arbitration hearings here and in US.
Conducted the Taxation List of AAT and VCAT from its inception in 1985 until 2003; conducted a public inquiry into gaming in 1992; completed presiding over statutory tribunals in 2016.
Five books published on media law, commercial arbitration, corporate governance, legal logic and legal history. Wrote Defamation Principles and Practice for Lexis Nexis. In course of publishing a book on how to write and how to think with the poet Chris Wallace-Crabbe.
