Gregory practices across all areas of criminal law and quasi-criminal law, including civil intervention orders, licensing and exemption applications.
He is available to appear in all courts and jurisdictions in Victoria and accepts interstate briefs.
Gregory also accepts briefs in occupational health and safety inquiries, coronial inquests, and matters in building and construction law.
He comes to the bar with extensive advocacy experience and knowledge in criminal law. He spent over three years as a prosecutor advocating in a range of complex matters including sexual offences, dishonesty offences, assaults, drug offences, driving offences and family violence. His work primarily consisted of running summary contested hearings and bail applications. In addition, he possesses valuable experience in written advocacy, training and advice concerning matters of evidence and criminal procedure.
As a member of the specialist sexual offences team, Gregory gained considerable experience in the conferencing and management of vulnerable witnesses, including children and cognitively impaired persons. He was also an advisor in the implementation of the practical training and assessment of intermediaries in the Victorian Intermediaries Pilot Program.
He particularly enjoys the challenges and opportunities arising from proceedings with intricate and complicated factual and legal questions.
Gregory is currently reading with Geoffrey Steward and his Senior Mentor is Ian Hill QC.
He also has a Bachelor of Engineering (Structural and Civil) and Bachelor of Business Management from RMIT.
