James Hooper is available to appear and advise in all areas of employment and industrial law. James also accepts briefs in other areas including criminal and personal injury law.
Prior to coming to the bar James worked as a solicitor for over 12 years in the area of employment and industrial law. James’ initial years of practice were spent at specialist employment law firm A.J. Macken and Co. and he then spent a number of years providing employment and industrial advice and representation at the Victorian Hospitals ' Industrial Association and Workplace Legal.
James has extensive experience advising, representing and appearing for both employers and employees. James has appeared in the Magistrates’ Court, Supreme Court, Federal Magistrates’ Court, Fair Work Australia, the Equal Opportunity Commission and the Australian Human Rights Commission. James has considerable experience in mediation and conciliation. James also has experience appearing in criminal law matters in Magistrates’ Courts around Victoria.
James holds a Master of Labour Relations Law (Melbourne University) (2007).
