Antony practises in general commercial, property, and insolvency. He also accepts briefs in building & construction, intellectual property as well as tax law drawing on his experience as a research assistant to Professor Stephen Barkoczy at Monash University.
Antony appears in all jurisdictions including the Federal Court, the Supreme and County Courts, and VCAT. He is regularly briefed to draw pleadings and provide strategic and considered commercial guidance.
In his commercial practice, Antony’s matters have included; sale of business disputes, winding up applications, advising on voidable transactions, sale of goods disputes including consumer disputes, advising on restraint of trade clauses, advising on a dispute amongst directors in a charitable organisation. He also advises on trusts including on applications to amend trust deeds and to extend the vesting date of a trust. In intellectual property, he has provided advice on the jurisdiction of the Federal Court to grant injunctive relief to prevent the hearing of a trade mark application.
His recent property matters include; sale of land disputes, estoppel and equitable interest disputes, disputes arising under the Retail Leases Act 2003 including applications for relief against forfeiture, adverse possession claims, easement disputes including a claim under the doctrine of lost modern grant, nuisance claims, owners corporation matters and residential tenancy disputes.
Antony is undertaking a Master of Laws at the University of Melbourne. He also tutors in Contracts at Ormond College at the university.
As a solicitor, Antony practised in insurance law and commercial litigation across Victoria and NSW.
Antony’s mentor is Roslyn Kaye. His senior mentor is Philip Crutchfield QC.
