Bryn has a broad practice in public and administrative law and criminal law.
Prior to coming to the Bar, Bryn was the Principal Solicitor at Social Security Rights Victoria (‘SSRV’). He regularly appeared as a solicitor advocate at the Administrative Appeals Tribunal. Recent successful appearances in the General Division include Fuller and Secretary, Department of Social Services [2020] AATA 2209, and JDKD and Secretary, Department of Social Services [2020] AATA 5212.
Before SSRV, Bryn worked at VLA, appearing throughout Victoria in plea hearings, sentence appeals, contested hearings and bail applications in the County, Magistrates’, and Children’s Court. As a member of the Appeals team, Bryn drafted advices and written cases for the Court of Appeal, including in the matter of Wilson v The Queen [2018] VSCA 219. Bryn also appeared regularly as solicitor advocate in the Mental Health Tribunal.
Bryn has previously lived in Alice Springs, where he worked at CAALAS (now NAAJA). He appeared regularly as a solicitor advocate in the Local Court in Alice Springs and Tennant Creek representing clients from across Central Australia.
Bryn holds a Master of Laws from SOAS University of London specialising in human rights, graduating with Distinction.
Bryn is reading with Nick Wood and his senior mentor is John Kelly SC.
