Bryony accepts briefs in all areas of criminal and quasi-criminal law, as well as regulatory prosecutions, professional disciplinary proceedings, administrative law, family law, and inquests and inquiries. Bryony has a particular interest in the intersection of criminal and administrative law and in working with clients affected by family violence.


Bryony comes to the Bar as an experienced advocate. She previously practiced as a solicitor advocate at Victoria Legal Aid, providing advice and representation to clients in criminal law and family law matters, appearing in Court on an almost daily basis. Bryony has appeared in the County Court, the Magistrates Court, the Children’s Court, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal and the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.


Immediately prior to joining the Bar, Bryony was a Criminal Division Lawyer at the County Court of Victoria, where she worked exclusively in indictable crime. In this role Bryony was responsible for the management of a large number of complex criminal trials across the State, including those involving sexual offences, white collar crime, personal and family violence, drugs, property offences and serious driving offences.


Bryony was formerly Associate to the Honourable Justice Quigley in the Trial Division of the Supreme Court of Victoria, during her Honour’s tenure as President of the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.


Bryony started her legal career as a Trainee Lawyer at Fitzroy Legal Service. Whilst in this role she benefited from a secondment to Allens Linklaters in the Employment & Safety Law Team.


Bryony has contributed to legal scholarship by publishing articles in the Melbourne University Law Review and the Alternative Law Journal.


Bryony is reading with Diana Price and her Senior Mentor is Emrys Nekvapil SC.
