Peter practises in commercial law, primarily in the areas of corporations, contract, insolvency, legal costs, property, trusts and superannuation.
Before being called to the Bar in 1996, Peter practised in commercial law as a solicitor at Arthur Robinson & Co (now Allens Linklaters) and at Purves Clarke Richards (now Gadens) where he had been a partner for 9 years focusing on banking and finance.
Peter's practice at the Bar is varied. For example, as counsel, he spent 2 years from 2000 assisting the Public Transport Corporation of Victoria in resolving numerous multi-million dollar claims concerning Melbourne's automated ticketing system.
In 2009, he assisted in the 3-way merger of 3 large industry superannuation funds. From time to time, he appears in superannuation proceedings and advises generally on superannuation issues.
From a legal costs perspective he has appeared in the Costs Court of the Supreme Court supporting or opposing costs agreements and bills of costs, or conducting reviews of taxed bills. He has also appeared at VCAT in the Legal Practice List on similar costs matters.
He is a sessional lecturer and tutor in contract law and property law at Victoria University Law School. He has also written various articles and conducted seminars for the legal profession in relation to the above areas.
