Taylah predominantly practices in commercial law. She has appeared for and advised clients in contractual, building, property, leasing, owners corporation and other commercial disputes. She has experience running contested hearings in the Magistrates’ Court and VCAT and has been briefed as junior counsel in a number of Supreme Court matters. She accepts briefs in local, regional and interstate courts.
Taylah also appears in criminal matters and property-related family law matters.
Taylah trained as a Solicitor at Isakow Lawyers where she gained broad experience in the areas of commercial, family and property law. Prior to joining the Bar, she was an Associate to her Honour Judge Brimer of the County Court of Victoria. She assisted her Honour in commercial trials and interlocutory applications in Duty Court and the Arbitration List. She also assisted in criminal jury trials, pre-trial applications and rulings, contested bail applications, pleas, and appeals from the Magistrates’ Court against conviction and sentence.
Taylah holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Arts from Monash University. She wrote an honours thesis considering reforms to the Bail Act 1977 (Vic) from a human rights perspective.
Taylah has extensive experience teaching law. She is the Chief Examiner and Lecturer of Evidence Law at Swinburne University. She previously tutored Property Law at Monash University and Australian Catholic University, and tutored a range of law units as part of the William Cooper Institute’s Indigenous Academic Enhancement Program.
