Fiona Ryan SC

Profile

Fiona has an extensive trial and appellate practice in areas including accident compensation, institutional abuse, medical negligence, general torts, coronial inquiries, administrative law and class actions. 

Fiona was appointed Senior Counsel in 2021. 

In 2023 Fiona appeared as senior counsel assisting the Board of Inquiry into historical child sexual abuse in Beaumaris Primary School and certain other government schools. 

Fiona read with Richard Niall KC, now Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Victoria. . 

Prior to coming to the Bar, Fiona worked at Holding Redlich after undertaking articles in 2002. She worked in the personal injury and commercial litigation departments.

In November 2025 Fiona was elected President of the Victorian Bar for 2025-2026.
