We are pleased to announce that Rosalind Avis has re-joined Greens List Barristers and is now available to accept briefs.

Rosalind is an experienced advocate who is returning to practice after 5 years as a Judicial Registrar of the County Court of Victoria.

Rosalind accepts briefs in a wide range of complex criminal matters, administrative and regulatory/disciplinary matters as well as coronial inquiries. Her practice covers a wide range of serious offences especially in Commonwealth matters. She has considerable trial and appellate experience and Rosalind is recognised for her thoughtful advocacy, strategic advice and practical approach to complex criminal proceedings.

In 2021, Rosalind was appointed a Judicial Registrar of the Criminal Division of the County Court of Victoria. Her judicial experience compliments her practice bringing valuable insight into case strategy, legal arguments and advocacy.

Rosalind has over 20 years experience as a Barrister, joining the Victorian Bar in 2013, having been called to the English Bar in 2006. At the English Bar, Rosalind was a Senior Crown Prosecutor, specialising in youth offending and serious sexual offences. 

She assisted the Victorian Department of Justice in introducing and training intermediaries in the Victorian courts and remains a regular teacher to the Readers’ Course for vulnerable witnesses. Rosalind is also an advocacy trainer for the Victorian Bar and recently travelled to both Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands teaching advocacy, including specific training for sexual offences.
