Lucy practices predominantly in commercial and common law matters. She accepts briefs to advise, appear and draw pleadings both led and unled in all State and Federal jurisdictions.
Lucy has a broad commercial law practice. She has significant experience in matters concerning contractual disputes, consumer law disputes, building disputes, trusts equity and probate proceedings, and interlocutory skirmishes of all kinds. She has a particular interest in class actions work, and acted for the defendant in the Fonterra Class Action (led by Robert Heath KC and Paul Liondas SC).
Lucy is regularly briefed to advise and appear in professional negligence and disciplinary matters, including for and against lawyers, accountants, building and other professionals.
Lucy also has a keen interest in sports law. Lucy has acted for a number of sporting organisations and athletes in the context of arbitrations and tribunal proceedings. She appeared both led and unled in several Court of Arbitration for Sport matters arising in connection with the Paris 2024 Games. She holds an ongoing appointment with Cricket Australia as Counsel Assisting the Cricket Australia Conduct Commission, and has previously held appointments for various local sporting tribunals.
Lucy read with her Honour Judge Anna Robertson and her senior mentor is Robert Heath KC. Before coming to the Bar Lucy was a solicitor at a suburban practice, and was the associate to his Honour Judge Meredith of the County Court.
Whilst Lucy now no longer regularly accepts criminal briefs, she did so for several years and has significant experience appearing in contested criminal matters, including trials. In 2020 she was a part of the Crown Prosecutors Mentoring Program.
Lucy has been an elite basketball player for many years, and volunteers as a Tribunal Member for the EDJBA league.
