Yusur Al-Azzawi

Profile

Yusur practices in common law, primarily in personal injury for plaintiffs and defendants. She also accepts briefs in administrative law, particularly judicial review of medical panels and statutory bodies, as well as coronial inquests, inquiries and discrimination matters.

Yusur regularly appears in common law trials, judicial reviews, appeals and serious injury applications, in transport accident and work injuries and recoveries, medical negligence, intentional torts and public liability matters.

Before coming to the Bar, Yusur practiced as a solicitor at Robinson Gill Lawyers and a senior solicitor at the Human Rights Law Centre. She was the Chair of the Board of Road to Refuge and has supervised and conducted rights work at several community legal centres, including Fitzroy Legal Service and the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.

Yusur holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Monash University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Melbourne. She currently sits on the Law Council of Australia’s National Human Rights Committee.
