Olivia practices in commercial, regulatory, public law, and Commonwealth criminal matters.

Olivia has a broad practice and regularly appears unled. Olivia previously held roles at the Commonwealth Attorney-General’s Department and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and commenced her career as a solicitor at Herbert Smith Freehills.

Olivia’s areas of expertise are:

  • Privacy law and data protection: Olivia advises both individuals and regulatory bodies on issues arising under the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988, including potential breaches of privacy obligations and responses to data breaches.
  • Commonwealth crime: Olivia has appeared for the CDPP in both the County Court (led) and Magistrates Court (unled) and has a particular interest in financial/white collar crime. She has also represented the Commonwealth in PII claims in the Supreme Court and Magistrates Court.
  • Regulatory and public law: Olivia regularly appears in judicial review and merits review proceedings on behalf of the Minister for Immigration in the ART, Federal Circuit Court, and the Federal Court. She has also appeared for the eSafety Commissioner and the Information Commissioner. 
  • Financial services law and regulation: including financial services, and superannuation and associated misconduct. Olivia has appeared for defendants in ASIC compulsory examinations and in ART merits review proceedings.
  • Consumer law and contract: including breaches of consumer legislation.

Olivia holds a Bachelor of Arts (Philosophy) and a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Melbourne where she studied on a Melbourne National Scholarship. She is currently studying a Masters of Laws at the University of Melbourne.

Olivia read with Stephen Rebikoff KC and her senior mentor is Richard Knowles KC.
