Jack practises across criminal law, regulatory proceedings, inquests and inquiries, and public law. He is available to appear in all Victorian courts, as well as interstate.
Criminal Law
Jack primarily acts for individuals and corporate entities across all facets of criminal law, in both trial and appellate jurisdictions. Since coming to the Bar he has appeared in matters involving homicide, other offences against the person, fraud, drugs, sexual offences and firearms.
Regulatory Proceedings
Jack welcomes briefs in regulatory matters in State and Federal jurisdictions in both criminal and civil proceedings. He has a particular interest in white-collar crime and the intersection between criminal and commercial law, with a focus on proceedings relating to regulatory investigations including by the ACCC, ASIC, ATO and IBAC.
Jack also acts for professionals in professional disciplinary proceedings.
Inquests and Inquiries
Jack acts for interested parties in royal commissions, coronial inquests, as well as other forms of inquiry and coercive examinations.
Public Law
Jack practises across a broad array of public law. He acts in matters involving judicial review, merits review, constitutional law, human rights and civil liberties.
Background
Jack read with Paul Smallwood and his senior mentor was Dermot Dann KC.
Prior to being called to the Bar, Jack was a solicitor at Galbally & O’Bryan.
Jack previously practised at the Northern Territory Legal Aid Commission in Darwin.
