Carmendy Cooper is an experienced advocate who welcomes briefs to appear and advise in criminal law, regulatory and disciplinary proceedings, guardianship and administration proceedings, and in inquests and inquiries. She brings extensive experience and skill in representing clients with complex matters and complex needs.
Carmendy comes to the Bar with over a decade practising as a solicitor advocate. Prior to coming to the Bar, she was a senior solicitor at the Law and Advocacy Centre for Women, and before that, held roles at the Mental Health Legal Service and Goulburn Valley Community Legal Centre. Carmendy commenced her legal career at DLA Piper in the litigation and regulatory team (health law), where she gained invaluable training and experience in advising government entities and running litigation.
Carmendy has appeared regularly in the Magistrates’ Court, Children’s Court, VCAT, the County Court, and also the Supreme Court. Carmendy also has experience appearing in Koori Court and therapeutic courts of the Magistrates’ Court. Carmendy accepts briefs in metropolitan and regional courts and tribunals.
