Profile

Nick is a criminal and common law barrister with a particular interest in indictable crime, family violence, institutional abuse, OH&S and personal injury matters.

Prior to joining the Bar, Nick was a Senior Lawyer in the Negligence and Litigation team for the Victorian Department of Education, where he managed a large case load of institutional abuse, personal injury and public liability matters.

Nick liaised extensively with government panel firms, conducted investigations, prepared advice for department stakeholders, attended mediations and acted as the instructing client on matters listed for trial in the Supreme Court.

Prior to this, he worked for Victoria Police as a Prosecutor (and sworn member), appearing regularly in contested hearings, bail applications, pleas, sentencing, extraditions, family violence matters, intervention orders and other matters in the Magistrates’ Court (and additional experience in the Children’s Court).

He is available for both defence and prosecution briefs and is interested in acting for a broad range of government and regulatory departments.

Nick was formerly a Lawyer with national firm Hall & Wilcox and several suburban firms. He commenced his legal career with the State Revenue Office and has also worked for the National Australia Bank, where he developed knowledge of the general banking and mortgage industry.

Further, he has contributed pro-bono with Refugee Legal, assisting asylum seekers and is available to support community organisations.

Nick was admitted in 2015 and holds a Master of Laws specialising in Criminal Law and Forensics from Monash University as well as a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws with Honours from Deakin University.

Nick is reading with Krystyna Grinberg and his senior mentor is Daniel Gurvich KC.
