Eliza Jane Saunders

Profile

Eliza practices in commercial law, with a focus on intellectual property (patents, trade marks, copyright, designs, breach of confidence), Australian Consumer Law, Corporations Law (including insolvency), contractual disputes and equity.

Before coming to the Bar, Eliza was Special Counsel at DLA Piper Australia.  She commenced practice at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London, completed a Masters of Laws in Intellectual Property in Turin, Italy and moved to Melbourne to work for IP specialist firm, Phillips, Ormonde & Fitzpatrick.

Just prior to coming to the Bar, Eliza was Associate to the Honourable Associate Justice Hetyey of the Supreme Court of Victoria.

As a registered Patent and Trade Mark Attorney, with molecular biology science qualifications and in-house experience at The Burnet Institute for Medical Research & Public Health, Eliza also accepts briefs in cases involving scientific expert evidence.
