Yasmin accepts briefs in all areas of criminal law, regulatory matters, inquests and inquiries and family law.

Yasmin has extensive experience in criminal law, appearing as defence counsel in both summary and indictable matters, and accepts briefs in all courts across Victoria.

Yasmin appears in committals, contested hearings, pleas, appeals, breach proceedings and bail applications, bringing rigorous preparation and sound strategic judgment to each matter. She also has extensive experience in family violence intervention order (FVIO) matters, appearing for both applicants and respondents in contested hearings. Yasmin has been an Accredited Specialist in Criminal Law with the Law Institute of Victoria since 2022.

Her administrative practice encompasses regulatory prosecutions, including local government work such as environment, animal control, public health and building matters, as well as occupational health and safety matters, coronial inquests and inquiries. Yasmin also accepts briefs in family law matters.

Before coming to the Bar, Yasmin practised predominantly as a solicitor-advocate in criminal defence, working across a number of private criminal law firms, where she had carriage of a number of complex indictable files including murder, serious sexual offences, serious violence offences, and drug trafficking and importation. She appeared daily in the Magistrates' and County Courts, and instructed counsel in complex indictable trials in the County and Supreme Court. She spent almost six years as a Senior Lawyer at Fitzroy Legal Service, appearing regularly in summary and indictable matters and building a longstanding commitment to access to justice.

In addition to her practice, Yasmin teaches and assesses law graduates at the Leo Cussen Centre for Law, including in advocacy and criminal law.

Yasmin holds a Bachelor of Laws from La Trobe University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication (Journalism) from the University of Technology Sydney.
