Martin delivers training to the legal profession and has taught as a sessional tutor in Federal Criminal Law at La Trobe University. He holds an Indictable Crime Certificate accreditation and was selected for the Trial Counsel Development Program. He graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Commerce & Laws and is a national board member of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Psychiatry, Psychology and Law (ANZAPPL), and a member of the Criminal Bar Association. For five years he was on the management committee of Liberty Victoria (Victorian Council for Civil Liberties) and chair of their criminal policy committee.
