Bill is a highly regarded expert in taxation law, trusts, equity, superannuation, and commercial law. Holding a Ph.D. and an LL.M., he has published extensively on taxation, including two books and numerous articles both in Australia and Internationally.


Bill has extensive experience in appearing at both Trials and Appeals (Supreme Court of Victoria and Federal Court of Australia – including special leave applications), in the following areas of practice:


Taxation law


Bill acts across both Federal and State taxation matters, regularly advising and appearing in disputes involving:


· Income Tax, GST and fringe benefits tax – Disputes and structuring advice.

· Superannuation – SMSFs, tax treatment of superannuation benefits, and compliance matters.

· State Taxes – Stamp duty, land tax and payroll tax, including disputes with the State Revenue Office.


Equity and trust law


· Disputes over trusts and fiduciary duties

· Deceased estates and complex estate litigation, including TFM applications

· Breach of trust and equitable compensation claims 


Administrative law, including judicial review 


· Prerogative writs and administrative review

· Tax and state revenue disputes before VCAT and ART (formerly AAT)
