Samantha Holmes

Profile

Samantha practises in the criminal and quasi-criminal jurisdictions. She appears in jury trials, committal hearings, plea hearings, bail applications, appeals and contested summary hearings. 

She has extensive experience in Commonwealth prosecutions, and appears in all jurisdictions in Victoria, in both State and Commonwealth matters. 

Samantha also appears in regulatory and local government matters in the Magistrates’ Court and VCAT. 

She has experience in cases involving allegations of terrorism, foreign bribery, fraud, conspiracy, drug importation, violent and sexual offending. She also appears in occupational health and safety prosecutions. 

Prior to coming to the Bar, Samantha worked as a lawyer for 9 years at the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions in both Sydney and Melbourne, and at Victoria Legal Aid.

Samantha read with Justin Hannebery KC, and her senior mentor was the now Judge Gregory Lyon KC.
