Nancy accepts briefs in all areas of criminal law and quasi criminal law for both Prosecution and Defence. She is on Victoria Legal Aid’s Preferred Barrister List and holds an Indictable Crime Certificate.
Regulatory offences
Nancy accepts briefs to advise and appear for both Prosecution and Defence in RSPCA, WorkSafe, Victorian Fisheries Authority, Energy Safe Victoria and Australian Tax Office matters as well as Commonwealth, local council and government agency prosecutions.
She also has experience with offences under the Estate Agent’s Act, Fisheries Act, Child Employment Act and Food Act.
Criminal law
Nancy has appeared in the Magistrates, Children's, County and Supreme Courts in contested hearings, contested committals, plea hearings, appeals and applications for bail. She has appeared led and unled in County Court trials and appeared as junior counsel in the Court of Appeal.
She has a special interest in fraud matters and white collar crime. She has been briefed to appear and advise in complex fraud matters for both Prosecution and Defence.
Prior to coming to the bar Nancy was a Managing Solicitor at a large suburban criminal defence firm.
Nancy has a keen interest in the sciences, having studied genetics, chemistry and microbiology at university. She is well suited to cases involving technical analysis and forensic materials.
She read with Simon Moglia (now Judge Moglia of the County Court of Victoria) and her senior mentor was Lesley Taylor QC (now the Honourable Justice Taylor of the Supreme Court of Victoria)
