Stephanie practises across criminal law, regulatory proceedings, inquests and inquiries, and public law. She is available to appear in all Victorian courts and tribunals, as well as interstate.
Criminal Law
Stephanie appears as defence counsel in both summary and indictable matters. She is regularly briefed to appear in contested matters in the Magistrates’ Courts including committal proceedings. She appears in intervention orders matters.
Stephanie has appeared in pleas, contravention hearings, appeals (including leave applications for intervention order appeals) and bail applications in the County Court. She also appears in bail applications in the Supreme Court of Victoria.
Regulatory Proceedings
Stephanie has expertise in disciplinary proceedings involving healthcare professionals and in regulatory prosecutions. She appears for both prosecution and defence for offences under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1986 (Vic), Domestic Animals Act 1994 (Vic), the Building Act 1993 (Vic) and Environment Protection Act 2017 (Vic).
Stephanie has appeared at the Victorian Building Appeals Board and the Liquor Commission Victoria.
Public Law
Stephanie practises across a broad array of matters involving judicial review and merits review.
Sports Law
Stephanie is on the National Sports Tribunal Legal Assistance Panel and welcomes brief in this area.
Stephanie read with Sam Tovey and her senior mentor is Andrew Woods SC.
Prior to being called to the Bar, Stephanie was a Judge’s Associate to his Honour Judge Lyon of the County Court of Victoria.
Stephanie also worked in a regional law firm in Gippsland.
