Profile

Timothy practices in all areas of public and commercial law, with a focus on taxation.  He has acted for both taxpayers and the Commissioner of Taxation in the full spectrum of tax disputes from ATO audits and objections to litigation in all federal jurisdictions.

His significant matters include acting for the taxpayers in the High Court in Commissioner of Taxation v Bendel [2026] HCA 18, led by Andrew de Wijn KC and Paul Jeffreys.

Timothy is a sessional tutor in Principles of Taxation Law I at Melbourne Law School.

Before coming to the Bar, Timothy was a solicitor at Arnold Bloch Leibler, where he acted for multinationals, listed companies, private groups and high-net wealth individuals.

Before that, Timothy worked at the Australian Taxation Office, across the Office of the Chief Tax Counsel and Public Groups business lines. He had a particular focus on novel, contentious and complex corporate and international tax issues.

Timothy holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Juris Doctor from the University of Melbourne.

Timothy read with Angela Lee, and his senior mentor is Julianne Jaques KC.
