Anthony Lo Surdo SC, FCIArb has been appointed as an inaugural part-time member of the National Sports Tribunal (NST) that commenced operations on 19th March 2020.
Establishment of a NST was one of the key recommendations of the 2017 review of Australia’s Sports Integrity Arrangements, led by the Honourable James Wood AO QC. The NST was created with the aim of providing for an effective, efficient, independent, transparent and specialist tribunal for the fair hearing and resolution of sporting disputes. It provides for an opt-in system of resolution of certain sports and sports-related disputes by arbitration, mediation, conciliation and case appraisal.
The appointment of Mr Lo Surdo SC, FCIArb is a public recognition of his expertise in arbitration, sports law and the resolution of sport-related disputes.
