Dr Felicity Gerry KC appears in IBA mock trial

List member Dr Felicity Gerry KC appears in the International Bar Association (IBA) mock trial at the annual conference in Mexico. Defending a compliance officer in mitigating a corporate plea to bribery and peddling charges in an abbreviated procedure under Mexican law, Felicity led evidence of compliance policies and training and responses to the extraordinary mock events based on a scenario where a prominent Mexican manufacturing company accepted liability but sought to reduce the penalty. Felicity used her considerable advocacy skills to persuade one judge to dissent, impose a nominal $10 fine and to urge that the company vacate its plea. The mock trial was held in the historic Capilla Gótica del Instituto Cultural Helénico.
