Greens List Readers Sign The Bar Roll - October 2022

Greens List congratulates our newest Barristers, who last night signed the Bar Roll, Genna Angelowitsch, Sheeana Dhanji, Emma Fargher, Simone Kipen, John Riordan, Tim Staindl and Drossos Stamboulakis.

Genna Angelowitsch

Prior to coming to the Bar, Genna practiced for over 10 years in personal injury and common law matters, obtaining her LIV Specialist Accreditation in Personal Injury Law in 2017. She managed claims for individuals injured in transport accidents, industrial accidents, medical negligence, sexual abuse cases, victims of crime, police tort matters and public liability claims. She also instructed in inquests on behalf of families who had lost loved ones, including instructing for the families of the Bourke Street attack victims and in the inquest for Gong Ling Tang.

Sheeana Dhanji

Sheeana practises in general commercial as well as in public and administrative law. Sheeana brings over a decade of experience as a commercial litigator to her practice, as well as several years as a Public Defender with VLA’s Civil Justice directorate, appearing at all levels of State and Federal Courts and Tribunals. Sheeana combines her experience as an advocate and advisor to corporations and government departments with strong communication skills. She is particularly well-placed to provide strategic, high-quality, and timely written advice on legal, risk, policy and procedure questions.

Emma Fargher

Emma comes to the bar with ten years’ experience as a solicitor. She has practiced in criminal law and commercial litigation.

Emma spent the past six years appearing as a solicitor advocate for the Office of Public Prosecutions in both NSW and Victoria.  In Melbourne, Emma was a Senior Solicitor in the Specialised Sexual Offences Unit before becoming a Senior Solicitor Advocate. She has appeared across all jurisdictions in a wide range of contested criminal proceedings, including summary contests, bail applications, committal hearings, plea hearings and appeals. Emma has also appeared as junior counsel for trials in the County Court of Victoria.

Simone Kipen

Simone practises predominantly in commercial law. Before coming to the Bar, Simone was the Associate to the Honourable Justice Sifris of the Victorian Court of Appeal. She also assisted the Honourable Justice McMillan in the Trial Division. Prior to her time at the Supreme Court, Simone was a lawyer in the litigation practice group at Arnold Bloch Leibler. She acted for companies, insolvency practitioners, individuals, and charities in a range of commercial matters involving insolvency, corporations, contracts, trusts, wills and estates, and real property. Simone has a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts (History/Theology) from Monash University. She is completing a Master of Laws at the University of Melbourne.

John Riordan

John Riordan is a criminal lawyer with over 10 years’ experience, including senior lawyer at Victoria Legal Aid and solicitor advocate at the Office of Public Prosecutions. He was a co-founder of the Mercy Campaign, a movement to support the clemency applications made by Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran. John is currently serving as a director on the board of the Capital Punishment Justice Project (CPJP), and was a committee member of Reprieve Australia (now CPJP) from 2010 to 2014. In 2015 he completed a Master's of Public International Law at Leiden University, and worked at both the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia and the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia.

Tim Staindl

Tim will practice primarily in common law, but will also accept briefs in commercial, criminal and administrative law matters. Prior to coming to the bar, he was an associate to Justice McMillan and Justice Gorton at the Supreme Court, before working as a senior lawyer for the common law division. Tim has also worked in private practice, particularly in the area of trusts and succession law. Before studying law, he did a bachelor’s degree in voice performance at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music.

Drossos Stamboulakis 

Drossos practises in commercial law, private international law and commercial arbitration.

Drossos qualified as a solicitor in the arbitration and dispute resolution group at King & Wood Mallesons after serving as an Associate to Justice Croft in the Commercial Court of the Supreme Court of Victoria.

Drossos is a Senior Lecturer at Monash University, teaching in contract law, commercial law, commercial arbitration and transnational dispute resolution. He is the author of Comparative Recognition and Enforcement: Foreign Judgments and Awards and a co-author of International and Australian Commercial Arbitration.
